This gallery skin uses avatars..  It is recomended that you assign an avatar to your anonymous user.  Also the avatar for the gallery is taken from the first owner listed on the gallery.

The skin is desinged to show many thumbnails from an album at a time, you can set the number of thumbnails to be displayed in the "Change how my gallery looks" option in the control panel.  (note the columns and rows are not used for layout, but rather to determine the total number of images to display, and album counts are not used as this skin uses the tree control only for album navigation)
